Yes, we know that this is a picture of a Fulston Zebras team but it really is where Oak Athletic began its life. This is the Fulston Zebras Under 10 Team from 1996/97 and was managed by Kevin Wood and Martin Harrison who went on to found Oak the following season. The majority of the players in this team were in the Oak team that won the Under 11 Third Division Title the very next season as part of Oak. Players here are:(Back Row) G. Evans.C Payne. This is the VERY first team that took to the field bearing the Oak name. This was a summer tournament in 1997 and the Club did not even then have any kit. All the kit being worn by the players had been borrowed from other clubs. The players in this picture are Robert Tilley. David Prince. Nick  Goldfinch. George Evans. Dan Wood. Rory Kemp. Ed Harrison. And Ed Harrison still plays for the Club today - 2008!

A few short months later and by the start of the 1997 season Old Oak Juniors (as the Club was called until 2000) had got 5 teams together and had bought kit and equipment for them all.

Oak began life in 1997/98 with just 5 teams and in those days the Managers were not afraid to show their legs! In this picture we have (back Row) Nigel Sparkes - who went on to be the Clubs first Social Secretary - Steve Tull - who was a founder member of the Club as well as the Club's first Secretary, Howard Brimer who went on to manage teams for several years, and David Evans. In the Front Row is our esteemed Chairman Kevin Wood and alongside him is our present Club Secretary, Martin Harrison. Finally we have Peter Wedlake who was the Club's first Vice Chairman.

Oak started life with 5 teams - Under 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. These are the only pictures we can locate at present of those very first teams. If anyone out there has any better pictures PLEASE get in touch with the Club.                            

The picture above is the Club's first Under 10 team (1997/98) which was managed by Peter Wedlake,
Nigel Sparkes and John Welsh 

The picture below is our very first Under 8 team which
went on to win the John Leeds Cup in their first year as well as finishing as runners-up in the League.

Oak's first Under 8 team in 1997 went on to collect several League and Cup honours.

This is Oak's first Under 12 team (1997) managed by Dave Evans.

The Club didnt have to wait long for its first League honours. In its very first season the Oak Under 11 Team strode away with the Third Division Title and went on to gain promotion to Division One. Here we have the Managers of the championship Under 11 team from 1998, Martin Harrison and Kevin Wood proudly displaying the League Trophy.
