The Club was formed 12 years ago by three friends - Kevin Wood, Steve Tull and Martin Harrison. They formed links with Old Oak FC and in 1997 entered the Medway News Youth League as Old Oak Juniors FC. In 1998 the club left Old Oak FC and started a new life as Oak Athletic FC. The Club is now one of the largest and most respected clubs in the Swale and Medway area and in February 2009 was awarded full FA Charter Standard status. In 2009/10 the club is running 10 youth teams in the Medway News Youth League and 2 adult teams in the Medway Messenger Sunday Football League. The Club is also running an Under 6 Development squad. Oak Athletic FC provides the young people of Sittingbourne with organised football in a safe and controlled environment. The Club also improves skill and quality of play and provides its young players with an outlet into a good level of adult football. This was recognised by the Football Foundation in February 2009 with the award of a development grant.
